SmithAmundsen tried a dental malpractice jury trial where the patient was referred to an oral surgeon to remove a needle that broke off in the cheek of the plaintiff when being treated at a dental office. The oral surgeon was not able to remove the needle and referred her to the hospital following multiple attempts and causing trauma in his attempts. The hospital with imaging was able to locate and remove the needle. The oral surgeon was sued alleging he should have used diagnostic methods to triangulate the location of the needle and failed to do so. The jury found no liability against the oral surgeon.
