Overview

Al has almost two decades of experience representing clients in environmental matters, mass tort and class actions. Al represents clients in regulatory enforcement actions brought by the United States Environmental Protection Agency and state environmental agencies. This includes enforcement actions brought pursuant to the Clean Water Act, FIFRA, CERCLA and other environmental statutes and regulations.

Al is also well versed in CERCLA actions, litigating and advising clients regarding site clean-ups and allocation of costs associated with remediation of historically-contaminated manufacturing properties among potentially responsible parties. He has also represented clients in cases involving leaking underground storage tanks.  

Al advises clients regarding compliance with a variety of environmental laws and regulations, including: (1) the Clean Water Act; (2) the Oil Pollution Prevention Act, (3) FIFRA; and (4) Consumer Product Safety Commission’s labeling requirements for certain household products. Al has guided clients through USEPA enforcement actions alleging violations of stormwater permits, USEPA’s dredge and fill regulations, and FIFRA’s product labeling requirements.

In addition to traditional environmental law work, Al represents clients in class actions and mass torts involving environmental or consumer claims. This includes representing manufacturers in individual and class action lawsuits involving contaminated groundwater and a water supply company in a case alleging contaminated drinking water. Al also represented the private operator of one of the United States’ largest wastewater conveyance and treatment systems in individual, mass and class action lawsuits seeking damages as a result of alleged back-ups of sewage into residential and commercial properties. Al also has experience representing clients in a wide-variety of other class actions, including consumer protection class actions and product defect class actions.
